The Greatest Gift

When I was a child, I used to think that life is like a fairy tale – there are some trials and happy endings as well. Maybe that’s the result of watching fairy tale cartoons like Cinderella. Growing up, I realized that every day is not as easy as I can think of. I became more practical and sensitive to the needs of the world.

I’m no longer watching Cinderella because I’m now more interested in watching news. And so, I became a gown up with so much worry for the future. With so many devastating news just like the present situation in India, I can’t help but wanting to go back to my childhood years. However, my senses is now telling me that I’m living in the real world and there’s nothing that can bring me back to the past when all I care about is which toy should I play.

As I write this, I’m hearing Whitney Houston’s song, “The Greatest Love of All.” If I may borrow these lines,

“Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all”

Love is the root of everything. If we love one another with no pretention and envy, we can have a peaceful world. A peaceful world with no more wars and fuming.

I think that the song of Whitney is should be added with some words to achieve the greatest gift of all. It should be “Learning to love yourself and others just like you love yourself is the GREATEST GIFT OF ALL.” =)
